Consultation Information
You have an upcoming appointment with the occupational physician or the work and health advisor. Below you will find information about their roles and how they can support you. For questions, you can contact us.

Consultation with the occupational physician
The occupational physician supports you in examining health and work. He/she will:
- Discuss with you and assess the medical situation in relation to your work.
- Advise you about possible adjustments in your work.
- Guide you in your return to work and recovery.
- Advise you on how to prevent work-related health complaints.
N.B. The consultation is conducted by an occupational physician (bedrijfsarts) or a physician in occupational health (arts bedrijfsgeneeskunde) . A physician in occupational health has the same expertise as the occupational physician and works under their supervision.
During your appointment with the occupational physician:
- You discuss your health and work situation in confidence.
- You receive advice about possible treatments, workplace adjustments, or your return to work.
- The physician can refer you to other specialists if necessary.
After your appointment:
You and your employer receive written advice (without medical details). This advice includes the possibilities for work and any limitations that must be taken into account. This advice serves as input for the Action Plan that you will prepare together with your employer afterwards.

Consultation with the Work and Health Advisor
The Work and Health Advisor supports you with practical matters regarding your work and reintegration, without going into medical details. He/she:
- Monitors your progress, provides advice when needed, and thinks along with you about your reintegration process.
- Informs you about your rights and obligations during illness or reintegration.
- Helps with work-related problems such as (potential) conflicts or communication problems, for example through a three-way conversation.
- Can refer you to specialized help. Depending on your situation and the type of support you need, this sometimes happens in consultation with the occupational physician.
During your appointment with the Work and Health Advisor:
- You discuss your work tasks, working conditions, and possible bottlenecks that affect your work.
- You receive practical advice, for example about (temporary) workplace adjustments.
- The advisor helps you create a plan for your return to work.
- You learn about available tools or support.
After your appointment:
You and your employer receive written advice with practical recommendations about your work situation and reintegration process. This advice contains concrete recommendations about work resumption, possible workplace adjustments, and available support.
Important to know
